Procurement questions
What threshold applies to SEND transport contracts?
SEND transport is classified as a Schedule 3 service. Above £750k, full procurement regulations apply. Between £50k–£750k, a proportionate approach is expected. Below £50k, direct award is typically permissible.
Can we extend an existing contract?
Yes, where an existing contract includes an extension option and it was advertised in the original OJEU notice. Extensions must be exercised within the original contract period and scope.
Do we need to re-tender when a child changes school?
Generally no — a route change for an existing child is within scope. A wholly new service type or LA authority requiring a new contract would require a new procurement.
What insurance do you hold?
Public liability £10m, employer liability £10m, professional indemnity £2m, motor fleet (fully comprehensive, minibuses to 16 seats). Certificates included in the credentials document.
